Durometer (Shore A) reference
| Durometer | Feel | Typical use |
|---|---|---|
| ~55–65 | Soft | Heavier ink deposit, uneven or textured surfaces. Can lose detail. |
| ~70–75 | Medium | General purpose. Common default for apparel. |
| ~80–85+ | Hard | Sharper detail and thinner deposits; halftones, high mesh, many water-based setups. |
| Dual / triple (e.g. 70/90/70) | Stiff core, softer edge | Less blade flex, more consistent prints, especially on automatics. |
Edge profiles
| Edge | Effect |
|---|---|
| Square (sharp) | Standard. Clean shear and good detail; the most common choice. |
| Rounded | Pushes more ink through; used for heavy deposits, some specialty and athletic-style prints. |
| Beveled / V | Small contact line; used for fine detail and some non-flat or specialty substrates. |
Keep blades working
- A dull or nicked edge prints like a softer, rounder blade. Sharpen or replace as needed.
- Solvents and long runs can swell or soften blades; let them rest between jobs.
- Pick the blade to fit the image width with some margin on each side.
