Vector or raster

Spot-color art (logos, text, line art) is usually built as vector art, for example in Illustrator. Photographic or tonal art is raster, and it gets separated in Photoshop or dedicated separation software. ScreenPrinting.com specifically recommends separating CMYK in Photoshop, not in a vector program.
